Egypt's Press Syndicate filed on Monday a report with the country's prosecutor-general against the chairman of Zamalek Sporting Club as well as the club's executive and security managers over the assaults on journalists near the club's entrance in Cairo last Tuesday.

The syndicate accused chairman Mortada Mansour – who is also a member of parliament – and other club officials of illegally barring journalists from entering the club.

The syndicate said that some of the assaulted journalists filed reports with the Agouza prosecution against club officials last Tuesday.

On Saturday, the syndicate imposed a one-year ban on publishing Mansour's name or photo over the incident.

In October, Egypt's Supreme Council for Media Regulation banned Mansour from appearing on media outlets over remarks he made against prominent football officials and other figures in the country.

The ban expires by the end of the year.

Later in the same month, the General Assembly of the Egyptian Olympic Committee (EOC) banned Mansour from all sporting activities for two years after he insulted the EOC board members and its president Hisham Hattab.

The Egyptian parliament's legislative committee has rejected several requests to remove parliamentary immunity from the Zamalek Club chairman.
