Ahly fire French coach Carteron after Zayed Champions Cup exit
Ahram Online, , Friday 23 Nov 2018

Ahly terminated the contract of French coach Patrice Carteron a few hours after the team were eliminated from Zayed Champions Cup on Thursday, promoting assistant coach Mohamed Youssef to the position of caretaker manager.

The Red Devils' recent woes were compounded when they were eliminated from Zayed Champions Cup after a draw with the UAE's Al-Wasl on Thursday, less than two weeks after losing the African Champions League final to Tunisia's Esperance in Rades.

"Ahly management have decided to sack coach Patrice Carteron and the team's fitness coach Michael Lindeman," read a statement on the club's official website on Friday morning.

"The management have also hired assistant coach Mohamed Youssef to be in charge of the team as a caretaker coach, while Sayed Abdel-Hafiz will be the team's football director."
