French armed forces minister in Egypt to attend EDEX 2018, boost military cooperation

French Minister of the Armed Forces‎ ‎Florence Parly arrived inEgypt on Monday as part of a foreign tour.

Parlyheaded a military delegation which attended Egypt's first military expo EDEX 2018 which kicked off on Monday and is expected to last until Wednesday. The French defense minister toured the exhibition with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

A total of 373 major defense companies from 41 countries are participating in EDEX which is organized by Egypt's Armed Forces under the auspices of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the fair – the first of its kind in Africa – will showcase the latest military and security technology, equipment and systems.

Parly's visit to Egypt comes within the framework of strategic partnerships of France and theMiddle East.

In a statement, the French Ministry of the Armed Forces said that, during the visit, Parly will confer with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki on means of boosting cooperation between Egypt and France along with the latest regional developments, especially the Libyan crisis.

Parly will meet with French industrialists who have cooperation ties in Egypt.

After visiting Egypt, Parly will head for Kuwait where she will discuss with Emir Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah and Defense Minister Sheikh Naser Sabah al Ahmad the situation in the Middle East and the important role of Kuwait in the region.
