CAF eliminates Sierra Leone from 2019 AFCON qualifiers, pushing Ghana and Kenya to finals
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has eliminated Sierra Leone from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after the FIFA suspended them due to the country's government interference in the football affairs.
"The CAF Executive Committee at its meeting on Friday, 30 November 2018 in Accra decided on the case of Sierra Leone in the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers," read a statement on Cafonline.
"Sierra Leone is disqualified from the qualifiers and all its matches are annulled. This will result in a group of 3 teams and the standings of Group F will be Kenya, Ghana and Ethiopia," the statement added.
Hereby, Kenya who is leading the Group F with seven points, have booked their place in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations final alongside the group's runners-up with 6 points Ghana.
The tournament starts in June.
