Jason Larkin and Jack Shenker's project in both photography and writing explores a changing Cairo
The newly released text and photo essay by Jason Larkin and Jack Shenker represents a unique view of Cairo. Cairo Divided is part of the project bringing writers and photographers together to explore this specific topic of tracing the changes undergoing in the largest city of Africa and the Middle East. The unique essay explores in depth the phenomenon of satellite cities now surrounding Cairo and mushrooming in the desert, hosting communities with specific social and cultural features that are bound to change the entire geography of the city.
The project's launch will take place at the Contemporary Image Collective on Wednesday 18 January starting 7pm, and will feature Shenker together with guest speakers Wafaa Nadim, Ahmed Zaazaa, Ursula Lindsey and Mohamed El-Shahed.
