Egypt's Armed Forces inaugurates first centre for online conscription services

Egypt's Armed Forces announced on Friday that Minister of Defence General Mohamed Zaki has ratified the decision to open the first electronic centrefor managing online conscription services at the recruitment and mobilisation department, a statement by Armed Forces spokesperson Tamer El-Refai read.

The statement said that the new electronic centre reflects the Ministry of Defence and Military Production's keennessto make maximum use of technological developments to better serve the public.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Nabila Makram, high-ranking Armed Forces officials, media professionals, and a number of Egyptian university students.

The ceremony began with a speech by the director of the recruitment and mobilisation department, where he emphasised the General Command of the Armed Forces’ keenness to provide recruitment services and facilitate the enlistment process for young people.

The electronic centre includes a number of offices for checking data and revising certified issuances as well as a control center, according to the statement.

"This service is a great and unprecedented step in giving citizens immediate access to conscription services inside or outside Egypt through a secure system via the website of the recruitment and mobilisation department, the address for which is [http://tagned.mod.gov.eg]," the statement read.

The electronic system includes a number of recruitment services as well as travel permits for men with conscription certificates of all types, such as the temporary conscription certificates, final exemption certificates, and certificates of final exemption from service for lack of medical fitness.

The statement highlights that this comes within the framework of Egypt's Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development (2030), which aims to keep abreast of technological developments and transform the country into a digital society.
