Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting in Germany on Friday with Dieter Dombrowski, the vice-president of Brandenburg’s state parliament, and Sebastian Sauer, the minister for development and economic cooperation to discuss waste management and recycling.

The meeting was attended by Florian Dühr, the CEO of RKD Recycling Kontor Dual GmbH & Co. KG, and Egypt’s ambassador to Germany Badr Abdel Aati.

During the meeting, Madbouly stressed that the Egyptian government attached great importance to establishing an integrated solid waste management system in Egypt.

He also expressed Egypt's keenness on benefiting from German expertise in this field, particularly in light of Germany's global leadership in waste recycling.

Dühr reviewed with Madbouly a study carried out by his company on waste management and the recycling system in Egypt, including the solid waste produced in the country annually.

He said he is ready to tap the Egyptian market and set up a partnership with the Egyptian company in this domain.

He also suggested establishing a joint venture, benefiting from the German practical experiments in the field of garbage collection and recycling.

Madbouly expressed his keenness on working with RKD, and said the technical details should be discussed with the environment and military production ministers during their visit to Germany at the end of January.

According to World Recycling Statistics, Germany has the best recycling rate in the world. Austria comes in second, followed by South Korea and Wales.

All four countries manage to recycle between 52 percent and 56 percent of their municipal waste.
