Egypt GDP grew by 5.5 pct in Oct-Dec quarter: Ministry

Egypt’s gross domestic product grew by 5.5 percent in the period from October to December 2018, compared with 5.3 percent during the same period a year earlier, the planning ministry said on Wednesday.

Egypt is targeting GDP growth of 5.8 percent during its current fiscal year.

Two government sources earlier said that Egypt’s gross domestic product grew to around 5.6 percent in the first half of the 2018/19 fiscal year, which began on 1 July, up from 5.2 percent a year earlier.
