Minister of Planning Fayza Abul-Naga adds that peaceful protest is a right of all citizens

Egyptian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Fayza Abul-Naga has announced that no military or police forces will be securing Tahrir Square or other potential venues of protest on 25 January, the one-year anniversary of the popular uprising that sparked revolution.

Many revolutionary forcesplan to go out en masse on the day to call on the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) to hand over power to a civilian administration. This fuelled fears that clashes could erupt should security forces provoke or attack the protesters.

Abul-Naga made sure to stress that all citizens have the right to peaceful protest.
