Sharm El-Sheikh Asian Film Festival to feature film making workshop for Egyptian students
In an effort to bring greater vitality to the third edition of the Sharm El-Sheikh Asian Film Festival next month, the NOON Foundation for Culture Aand Arts will organise an intensive workshop on film making as part of the festival’s activities.
The workshop will target students from Sharm El-Sheikh city and the surrounding areas, in addition to some students of cinema from the French University in Cairo, and some students from other governorates.
The workshop will be supervised by film director Sami Mohamed Ali, the festival’s executive director, and several film industry experts from the National Centre for Cinema will act as lecturers, including Mokhtar Aly in the directing section, Mahmoud Khalil in screenwriting, Manar Honsy in film editing and Mostafa Nabil in photography.
The National Centre for Cinema will provide all required equipment, including sophisticated cameras, lighting units, montage units, and sound recording equipment.
The workshop will begin on 23 February, ahead of the festival, and the students will make short films to be screened at the festival.
Outstanding films will gain financial awards from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which will also provide accommodation to students from outside the city of Sharm El-Sheikh.
The festival runs from 2 to 8 March and is directed by Magdi Ahmed Ali.
