Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has praised the performance of his team's Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah after the 5-0 win over Watford in the 27th matchday of the English Premier League late on Wednesday.

"Salah was exceptional as Watford's players failed to defend against him," Klopp said after the game.

"The wingers introduced a superb performance and the midfielders were excellent so we deserved the game's result," he added.

Liverpool returned to their swaggering best and retained a lead in the Premier League with a 5-0 thrashing of Watford on Wednesday that was powered by two goals apiece from Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool, who had failed to score in their last two games against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Manchester United in the Premier League, could have bagged more as Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah ran Watford ragged and hit the post.

The result kept Liverpool at the top of the Premier League with 69 points, just ahead of Manchester City with 68 points after the champions' 1-0 win over West Ham United on Wednesday.
