Ahram Online, , Saturday 16 Mar 2019

DR Congo's TP Mazembe and Algerian side CS Constantine have booked their place in the African Champions League quarterfinals after securing the top two places in their group.

Mazembe snatched the lead in Group C with 11 points after beating CS Constantine 2-0 in the final round of the group stage on Saturday.

CS Constantine finished second with 10 points despite Saturday's loss.

Tunisian side Club Africain had the same number of points but lost out on goal difference.

Below-par Egyptian side Ismaily lost hope of reaching the African Champions League quarterfinals after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by TP Mazembe in Alexandria last week.

As a result they are bringing up the rear on just two points.

In Group B, title holders Esperance of Tunisia, who had already booked their place in the quarterfinals, defeated Platinum Stars of Zimbabwe 2-1 on Saturday.
