Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk is not worried about Mohamed Salah's goal drought and is confident he will return to his scoring mood.

The Egyptian winger, who has scored 20 goals in 41 games across all competitions, has failed to scored over the past 7 games for the Reds.

“Mo is a world-class player,” the centre-back told Liverpoolfc.com on Monday.

“People can say all they want but I think all the teams in the Premier League would love to have him in their side. We have him and I think he is playing well.

“The goals will come. That’s something for a striker that is maybe going to be in your head but we tell him every time: you just need to keep working, keep going and you will be fine.

“He’s still scored plenty of goals for us, to be fair, so it’s not like two like me! It is like this.”

Salah, the Premier League's top scorer and best player last season, is in a stiff rivalry to retain his title with 17 goals in the league, tied with teammate Sadio Mane, Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Tottenham's Harry Kane who are all just one goal adrift of leading scorer Sergio Aguero of Manchester City.

Coach Jurgen Klopp has also praised Salah, 27, for his work for the team and believes he maybe needs the break to rediscover his scoring touch.

As the international break starts, the Egyptian marksman will have some time off since he has been rested from the Pharaohs' next fixtures against Niger and Nigeria on 23 and 26 March respectively.
