Senegal and Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is reportedly a top target for Real Madrid when the transfer window opens next summer.
French magazine France Football said on Monday that coach Zinedine Zidane was interested in signing the player last summer before abruptly deciding to leave Madrid. The deal was consequently called off.
The report said that after Zidane returned to the Santiago Bernabeu, he is still interested in bringing Mane to Madrid as a part of a major overhaul of the team.
Mane, who turns 27 in April, has been instrumental for Liverpool this season, scoring 19 goals in 38 matches in all competitions. He has been deployed on the flanks and recently in a central role.
Zidane is looking to strengthen Real's front line that has been struggling since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus last summer.
