Ahly announced on Thursday that in-form midfielder Amr El-Sulaya is fit for the Egyptian Premier League game against Zamalek, which was postponed from week 17.

El-Sulaya sustained a minor knee injury on Saturday during the Egyptian national team's 1-1 game against Niger in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.

"The [Ahly] medical staff spoke with their counterparts in the Egyptian national team to learn the state of El-Sulaya's injury and determine if he is fit for the game against Zamalek," read a statement on the club's official website early on Thursday.

"The national team's doctor confirmed that the midfielder is fit to take part in the Cairo derby game."

The 29-year-old midfielder missed the friendly game against Nigeria due to his injury.

Ahly and Zamalek will meet at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium in a postponed match that could define the season.

Egyptian Premier League leaders Zamalek failed to restore their four-point lead on the teams' table after being held to a 2-2 draw with Arab Contractors last week. Ahly thrashed Petrojet 4-0 in their last league match on 4 March.

Ahly currently lie second on the league table with 51 points from 22 matches, just two behind Zamalek.
