Egypt's Sisi and Lebanese PM Al-Hariri discuss means of strengthening bilateral cooperation

The two leaders also reviewed the current regional political scene, including the situation in Syria and other conflict-hit Arab countries, according to a statement by the presidential spokesperson


President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi told Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Al-Hariri that he cherishes the strength of relations between Egypt and Lebanon at both the official and popular levels.

El-Sisi's remarks came during his meeting with the Lebanese prime minister on the sidelines of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit on Friday night in Mecca.

According to a statement issued by the spokesman of the Egyptian Presidency Bassam Rady, El-Sisi also wished Al-Hariri and his government of success to be able to meet the aspirations of the Lebanese people to achieve further progress, security and stability.

From his side, Al-Hariri said he valued the brotherly ties and solidarity between both countries, expressing his country's appreciation of Egypt as a key pillar in supporting and maintaining stability in the region.

The Lebanese PM also praised the successful inspiring experience of Egypt which promotes the priority of development success, noting that he considers it as a model to be followed by other developing nations.

Rady said in the statement that the two leaders discussed means of strengthening bilateral cooperation, including the possibility of benefiting from Egyptian expertise in a wide range of fields, including electricity, infrastructure and energy projects.

They also reviewed the current regional political scene, including situation in Syria and other conflict-hit Arab countries, Rady added.
