Art Alert: 'The Three Colours' film trilogy to screen at Tahrir Cultural Center
Ahram Online, , Wednesday 12 Jun 2019

The Tahrir Cultural Centre will screen the film trilogy 'The Three Colours' on three consecutive days starting 23 June.

The series, directed by Polish filmmaker Krzysztof KieĊ›lowski, takes its name from the colours of the French flag; blue, white, and red in left-to-right order. The story of each film is loosely based on one of the three political ideals in the motto of the French Republic: liberty, equality, fraternity.

The trilogy is also interpreted as an anti-tragedy (blue), an anti-comedy (white), and an anti-romance (red).

Across the different stories, the three films share an underlying link or thing that keeps the protagonist linked to their past.

Programme:
June 23, 27, 29 at 7pm
Ewart Hall, AUC - Tahrir Cultural Center
