Egypt's Sisi discusses boosting ties with speaker of Romanian House of Representatives

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi expressed his deep appreciation to the speaker of the Romanian House of RepresentativesMarcelCiolacufor the mutual desire to deepen the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

El-Sisi's remarks came during his meeting with Ciolacu and a number of MPs at the Romanian House of Representatives in Bucharest on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the spokesman of the Egyptian presidency Bassam Rady, El-Sisi stressed the importance of promoting joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially economically and in trade.

Ciolacu applauded the role played by Egypt in the Middle East, praising its efforts in combating illegal immigration and terrorism.

El-Sisi, according to Rady, said during the meeting that strengthening stability in Arab and African countries should be a key element in the strategy to counter illegal migration flows to the European continent.

Regarding the war against terrorism, El-Sisi said: "The phenomenon of terrorism has become a challenge to the entire world."

El-Sisi also stressed on the importance of international efforts in combating it to include all the terrorist groups and organisations without discrimination, in light of the intellectual and ideological link between all these organizations and their adoption of rhetoric inciting hatred and violence.

On the same day, El-Sisi met with head of the Romanian Senate Kalin Popescu-Tariceanu at the parliament in Bucharest.

In another statement, Rady said that the head of the Romanian Senate expressed his country's keenness to support Egypt in its efforts to achieve comprehensive development.

Popescu-Tariceanu also praised the great achievements Egypt accomplished in the development of infrastructure in record time, expressing his country's aspiration to benefit from the inspiring Egyptian experience in this regard.

Moreover, talks during both meetings also tackled means of boosting economic and political relations between the two countries along with coordination at the regional and international levels.

The president arrived yesterday on an official visit to Romania coming from Minsk, the capital of Belarus, for talks with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.
