Arab finance ministers to hold emergency meeting to discuss PA financial safety network
Arab finance ministers are set to hold an emergency meeting at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo on Sunday to discuss establishing a financial safety network for thePalestinian Authority and supporting its budget.
Tunisia will chair the meeting with the participation of Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit and Palestinian Finance Minister Shoukry Bishara.
The meeting was called for by Abul Gheit as part of implementing a decision by Arab foreign ministers during their 21 April emergency meeting and the outcome of a Tunis summit on activating a $100 million financial safety network every month to boost the Palestinian Authority.
In press statements on Saturday, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League Hossam Zaki said that Abul Gheit called for the emergency meeting to coordinate with the Palestinian side to provide it with a financial safety network.
