EU commissioner praises Egypt's efforts in women empowerment through the digital economy
Head of the National Council for Women (NCW) Maya Morsi said that the economic empowerment of women through technology and digitization is one of the most important national priorities at this stage.
Morsi's remarks came during her meeting with European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel as she pays a visit to the EU institutions in Brussels.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the NCW, Morsi presented the efforts of Egypt in the field of developing and empowering women based on the unlimited support of the political leadership, which is reflected in various legislative, political, and economic domains.
Morsi also expounded the efforts of the state in benefiting from digital technology to achieve a real qualitative change reflected in society through the empowerment and development of women and the projects represented in digitization.
From her side, Gabriel lauded the steps Egypt took in the field of women's empowerment and digitization, stressing that she follows up on such developments in Egypt.
The EU commissioner expressed readiness to cooperate with Egypt at all levels in these two domains to exchange experiences.
