Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry chaired the 2nd day meetings of the 35th session of the African Union's executive council, currently held in Niger's capital Niamey at the level of foreign ministers.
The meetings are set to be followed by the 12th extraordinary summit of the African Union’s Heads of State and Government on the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCTA), slated for Sunday.
Shoukry chaired several sessions to discuss reports about the AU activities, most notably the ministerial committee’s report on Africa’s nominations for posts at e international organizations, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said in a statement Saturday.
The meetings also touched on the report issued by the ministerial committee concerned with the AU Agenda 2063.
The agenda of meetings included a discussion of the AU special rapporteur’s report on the outcome of regional consultations about the assessment of the Peace Fund.
