Programme: 17th International Summer Festival at Bibliotheca Alexandrina

The festival will include a variety of art activities like music concerts, theater plays, films screening and poetry and stand-up comedy shows in addition to workshops and lectures in various art aspects


The Art Center of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is kicking off its 17th International Summer Festival, between Friday 26 July to Saturday 31 August at their theater in Alexandria.

The festival will include a variety of art activities like music concerts, theatre plays, films screening, poetry, and stand-up comedy, in addition to a series of workshops and lectures on various aspects of art.

The event starts with the Jordanian band Jadal, followed by many Arab performers, including Syrian Tarek El Sweden (31 July), and Akher Zapheer of Jordan (30 August).

Many experienced Egyptian musicians will be performing at the festival, including; Nesma Abdel-Aziz (28 July), Ali El-Haggar (2 August), Omar Khairat (5 and 6 August), Mohamed Mohsen (9 August), Medhat Saleh (17 August), Masar Egbari (10 August), and Khaled Selim (19 August).

Many known and up-and-coming bands will also be featured like; Caravan, KhaltaBeta and Hageen bands (3 August), Fabrica and Electric Eel Shock Band (Japan) (4 August), The Egyptian Mawlawiyah (8 August), Nouran Abou Taleb (22 August), Nesma Mahgoub (24 August) with Mohamed El-Sharnouby ends the festival on 31 August.

Among the films scheduled to be screened are; Mohamed Salah's Islands (4 August), Mohamed Rashad's Maxim (11 August), and Sharief Zohairy's Might be Switched Off (18 August).



The highlight of the theatrical performances are the two nights comedian Ahmed Amin's performs 'Amin and Partners' (29 and 30 July).
