Egypt’s High State Security Prosecution ordered on Thursday the 15-day detention pending investigations of Karim Hassan, the administrator of the “I Am Sorry President Mubarak” Facebook page on charges of spreading false news with the aim harming the state’s interests.
The prosecution also charged Hassan with joining a group established against the provisions of law with aim of preventing state institutions from carrying out their duties.
Hassan was arrested on Wednesday per a warrant issued by the prosecution.
The Facebook page was created in 2012 in support of former president Mubarak following his ouster in February 2011 after nationwide protests against his regime.
