Egypt and China signed on Monday an agreement to supply educational equipment for the Egyptian-Chinese School for Applied Technology at Suez Canal University totaling $10 million.
Egypt’s Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr said that this agreement is in line with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi vision to improve the technical and technological education system at all levels and prepare youth to meet the market requirements.
“Relations between Egypt and China are strategic and the coming period will witness more bilateral agreements. The Egyptian-Chinese school is a model of the partnership between the two countries in the vocational education area,” Nasr added.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s Minister of High Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar said that this school is supporting technical school graduates and that this agreement will provide hardware as well as lab equipment.
Chinese Ambassador in Egypt Liao Li Qiang clarified that the Egyptian-Chinese School is the first joint project between the two countries in the field of technical education.
“A number of Chinese companies are keen on investing in Egypt, including in the area of technical education. The future will witness more agreements in this regard,” Qiang added.
Developmental cooperation projects between Egypt and China have reached $1.6 billion in the transportation, housing and education sectors, while Chinese investments in Egypt have hit approximately $7 billion.
