Egypt's Minister of Trade and Industry has announced Thursday that one of the biggest industrial groups in China is set to establish an aluminium manufacturing industrial complex in Egypt in partnership with the Saudi Al-Aglan Group.

The project is set to be implemented in four phases.

During a meeting with the CEO of Hangzhou Jinjiang Group Co and the deputy chairman of Al-Aglan Group at the new cabinet headquarters in Al-Alamein, Nassar said that the project includes establishing a factory for aluminium manufacturing and another for producing caustic soda, in addition to two water desalination and electricity stations.

"The new factory will be beneficial for Egypt and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, especially since aluminium production in MENA stand at 1.2 million tonnes, while the demand stand at 10 million tonnes," Nassar said.

The minister added that the government will make available all the required facilities to establish such a project, including land, manufacturing requirements, as well as the necessary infrastructure.
