Egypt's Media Production City (EMPC)launched on Sunday a new media centre in the Downtown Cairo area to serve all foreign media and correspondents.
Several studios affiliated to the centre are located in three areas in and around Cairo’s Downtown, including Agouza, Garden City and Maspero. These studios can be used for various media purposes and are equipped to provide all production services.
The five-floored new centre is equipped with a direct connection to satellites and photo units with HD and SD cameras, among other state-of-the-art facilities.
EMPC chairman Osama Heikal said the usage of Live View transmission units is coordinated with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) and the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA).
Head of State Information Service (SIS) Diaa Rashwan said that the use of Live View is not illegal under the law.
The news media centres aim to facilitate work for foreign correspondents inside the country legally, according to Heikal, who affirmed his keenness in resolving any problems faced by foreign channels domestically.
