11 defendants referred to trial over collaboration with Islamic State group

Egypt's Prosecutor-General Nabil Ahmed Sadek referred on Monday 11 defendants to an urgent trial in National Security Court on charges of espionage for the Islamic State terrorist group.

The defendants, who include four Libyans, are accused of spying for the Islamic State group in Libya and plotting to commit terrorist attacks against Egyptian citizens in Libya.

The charges also include the kidnapping for ransom and torture of Egyptian citizens, human trafficking and providing the terrorist group with money and information.
