Field Marshal Tantawi reshuffles National Council for Women

Egypt's de facto ruler has added 30 new figures in the National Council for Women in an effort to boost the social and political role of women


Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi ordered the reshuffle of the National Council for Women (NCW) Saturday, a decision that saw the inclusion of 30 new figures in the governmental body.

The 30 new persons are mainly male and female Phd holders and judges. They are:Radwa Mostafa, Samir Morkous, Mohamed Saber, Amna Nosseir, Nevine Abdel Monem, Hoda Abdel Monem, Sanaa Sayed, Ahmed Abdullah Ziad, Aza Abdel Maksoud, Ebtesam Abou Rehab, Hania Shalkanmi, Karima Atallah, Mohamed Nour, Doria Sharaf El-Din, Mahmoud Abdel Salam, Hassan Saad, Ghada Fathy, Nihad Aboul Kamasan, Nabil Abadir, Mervat El-Telawi, Sanaa EL-Saied, Reda Abdullah, Margerite Azar, Bassem Mohamed, Dina Hussein, Hagar Mohamed, Hala Fawzi, Hana Mohamed Mohamed, Ahlam Al-Asmar and Amal Atta.

Minister of International Cooperation Fayza Abul-Naga stated that the female president of NCW would be elected by its members, and that the president will then choose a secretary general.

Abul-Naga said Tantawi’s dicision came as part of efforts to amplify women’s political and social roles.
