EgyptAir operates 5 flights to bring 900 Egyptian pilgrims home Thursday

EgyptAir on Thursday announced that it has operated five flights to bring home 900 Egyptian pilgrims from Saudi Arabia after performing Hajj (Islamic Greater Pilgrimage) rituals.



On Wednesday, the national flag carrier began an airlift for transferring more than 70,000 Egyptian pilgrims on board of 424 flights.



The company said it will operate 224 flights to the Saudi airport of Jeddah and 200 flights to Medina airport to bring home all Egyptian pilgrims.



All preparations have been made at Cairo airport's seasonal terminal to receive the pilgrims.



Flights bringing back Egyptian pilgrims from Saudi Arabian cities are set to continue until 5 September.



Saudi authorities announced on Saturday that more than 2.49 million Muslims from around the world performed Hajj this season.
