Egypt set to participate in Religions for Peace World Assembly in Germany

Egypt's Immigration and Expatriates' Affairsminister Nabila Makram headed on Monday to Germany to represent the Middle East Council of Churches at the 10th edition of the Religions for Peace World Assembly.

The assembly, under the theme "Caring for our Common Future ΜΆ Advancing Shared Well-being," will be held on August 20-23 in the German city of Lindau.

The conference will be attended by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier with the participation of 100 countries, including 900 religious representatives as well as key officials of governments, UN organizations, NGOs, civil society and key figures and activists in the field of religious tolerance.

Makram will participate in a discussion on enhancing tolerance and getting rid of violence and extremism.

The minister will also deliver a speech on the role of women in society to establish principles of peace and acceptance of others.

Makram is set to hold a meeting with members of the Egyptian community in Germany’s Frankfurt to review the latest activities and campaigns launched by the immigration ministry.
