The head of the managing committee at the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), Amr El-Ganainy, has announced the names of five candidates for the post of national football team coach, confirming that no decision has been made until now on who will fill the position.

"Hassan Shehata, Hossam El-Badri, Hossam Hassan, Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam and Ihab Galal are the candidates for the national football team coaching post," El-Ganainy told a television programme on the MBC Misr late Saturday.

"Till now we didn't sideline any name from the five. Also we didn't decide the name of the coach."

"We will decide the name of the new coach as soon as possible, during the coming week," El-Ganainy said.

Egypt have been on the lookout for a new coach following the sacking of Mexican tactician Javier Aguirre after a dismal African Nations Cup campaign in June-July shortly after Egypt bowed out at the last 16 stage following a 1-0 loss to South Africa on home soil.

A new EFA board was handed the daunting task of picking a new coach for the national team amid few options, after opting against bringing in a foreign coach.
