Egypt will host the 10th African Food Day Conference on 29 and 30 October for the first time under the patronage of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
The conference will be held under the title 'Eradicating hunger in the African continent and benefiting from modern techniques in agriculture to improve food systems,' and is scheduled to be inaugurated by the Egyptian prime minister.
Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ezz El-Din Abou Steit said that the conference comes in light of Egypt's chairmanship of the African Union and its efforts to develop the African continent.
Agriculture ministers and food experts from about 55 African countries will be invited to discuss opportunities and initiatives to increase access to science in agriculture, in addition to public policies on nutrition and food support.
The conference will also discuss adopting modern technology and inventions in agriculture as well as improving the food basket inside the continent.
The minister of agriculture pointed out that the conference will provide an opportunity for officials, experts, businessmen and agricultural investors to discuss the issues of food, development, agricultural investment.
