A spell of unstable weather is forecast to take place across Egypt on Monday through Friday, with rainfall expected in some parts of the country, meteorologists say.

Rain is forecast for Cairo, cities on the Mediterranean, the Nile Delta, the Suez Canal governorates and some parts of the south, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority said in a statement on Sunday.

Parts of North Sinai will see torrential rains.

Starting Tuesday, temperatures are expected to fall 3-4 degrees Celsius below normal for this time of year.

High temperatures in the capital Cairo and the Nile Delta are forecast at 27-28 degrees in the coming few days. Cities on country's northern coast are predicted to see highs between 24 and 27 degrees.

The Meteorological Authority has warned drivers about morning fogs that could reduce visibility on roads, and advised people to wear warm clothing over the coming few days. It also called on provincial officials in coastal cities to take necessary precautionary measures to deal with the expected heavy rain.
