Kenya are facing the possibility of a ban from international competition by FIFA after a Kenyan ordinary court had discussed a request to suspend the coming election of the Kenyan Football Federation (KFK), scheduled for 7 December.
Egypt will face Kenya on 14 November in the Africa Nations Cup qualifiers after both sides had drawn in the same group (G) with Comoros and Togo.
The football governing body sent a letter to the KFK on Monday, stressing that "disputes within the FKF or affecting leagues, members of leagues, clubs, members of clubs, players, officials, and other FKF officials shall not be submitted to ordinary courts unless the FIFA regulations, or FKF statutes, or binding legal provisions specifically provide for or stipulate recourse to ordinary courts,'' read the letter.
"We further wish to underline that a violation of this obligation by the FKF or its members may lead to sanctions as provided for in the FIFA statutes, including possible suspension."
