Art Alert: Celebrating Leonardo da Vinci in Cairo with a lecture by Farid Fadel

An evening of interactive presentations of Da Vinci's art and science will be led by Egyptian painter and Da Vinci scholar Farid Fadel


On 10 November, the creative space NWT House will hold an evening titled 'Celebrating 500 years since the departure of the Renaissance genius Leonardo da Vinci,' with an interactive presentation by Farid Fadel, an Egyptian painter, art scholar and ophthalmologist.

According to the event's promotional material, "the lecture will focus on Da Vinci's formative years leading to the full development of his ideas and methods of observation and innovation.

Famed artist, researcher and inventor Da Vinci was born in 1452 and died in 1519. This year, the world celebrates Da Vinci's 500 death anniversary with many exhibitions held across the most renowned museums in many countries.

Born in 1958 in Assiut, Upper Egypt, into a family noted for both its musicians and its doctors, Fadelexcelled at medicine, art, and music.In art, he has held solo exhibitions in Egypt and internationally, in music, he has given several recitals (violin, piano) and concerts.
