In Photos: Omar Khairat stars at Cairo's Arab Music Festival

The 28th Arab Music Festival kicked off 1 November and continues until 12 November


Famed Egyptian musician Omar Khairat has been celebrated within the ongoing 28th Arab Music Festival.



The renowned Egyptian pianist and composer and his orchestra received warm applause by the crowd that attended their Saturday concert in the Main Hall of the Cairo Opera House.



The evening, the ninth of the ongoing 28th Arab Music Festival that kicked off 1 November and continues until 12 November, witnessed a rich repertoire of Khairat's well-known works for cinema and TV.

Khairat, one of the most celebrated contemporary composers in the region, played many pieces, including The Sorceress and the Magical Perfumes, Zay El-Hawa, Fiha Haga Helwa, Mafia, Arfa, and El-Bakhil Wa-Ana, in addition to his arrangement of Mohamed Abdel-Wahab's Emta El-Zaman.

On the same night, The Honest Art Troupe, led by Ismail Sadek, performed at the Arabic Music Institute while well-known singer Mohamed Tharwat performed in the Sayed Darwish Hall at the Alexandria Opera. The same concert that will be repeated at Opera Damanhour on Sunday.

Only three days remain of the significant annual festival, highlights of which will see Iraqi Hammam Ibrahim, Egyptian Marwa Nagi and Lebanese Wael Gassar in concert Sunday at the Main Hall of the Cairo Opera House, while Lebanese singer Assi El-Helani will be singing in Alexandria on Monday. Assala (Cairo Opera), Hanan Madi (Arab Music Institute) and Ali El-Haggar (Alexandria Opera) will be the stars of the closing night Tuesday.
