Egypt's Sisi directs government to intensify market control measures, combat commercial fraud
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi requested the government to support Egypt's domestic trade, intensify market control measures and consumer protection, and combat monopoly and commercial fraud.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhy and General Manger of the National Service Projects Organisation of the Armed Forces Mostafa Amin on Monday, El-Sisi called for enhancing social protection measures for the neediest groups via preventing exploitation and price hikes, particularly those of the main commodities.
Egyptian Presidency Spokesman Bassam Rady said the meeting followed up on the projects of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, including its programmes and activities aiming at supplying subsidiary commodities, developing the internal trade sector, providing social protection to the neediest people, and controlling the markets.
Moselhy confirmed during the meeting the availability of adequate strategic reserves of basic commodities, including wheat, sugar, oil and rice, in addition to poultry and frozen meat, Rady added.
Moselhy pointed out to the success of the economic reform programme which led to the decline in food prices this year compared to 2018.
