Egypt's Ahly eyeing Nigerian Blessing in January
Ahram Online , Tuesday 24 Dec 2019

Cairo giants Ahly have identified Nigerian striker Blessing Eleke as one of their potential targets for January.

Ahly have already signed ex-Zamalek winger Mahmoud Kahraba on a free transfer and they are still looking for another recruitment in the winter transfer window.

Eleke has made 21 appearances so far this season with Swiss side Luzern, scoring three goals.

The 23-year-old came through the ranks of Nigeria's Flying Sports Academy in 2014 and also played for Slovenia's Gorica and Olimpija Ljubljana and Israel's Ashdod.

"Eleke is one of the players we are considering to buy in January," Ahly's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz said in a radio interview on Tuesday.

Ahly's squad currently includes four forwards in Marwan Mohsen, Salah Mohsen, Nigerian Junior Ajayi and Moroccan Walid Azaro.

Marwan Mohsen and Salah Mohsen are out of favour, with Swiss coach Rene Weiler usually relying on Ajayi or Azaro in a lone frontman role.

Ahly have made their best Egyptian Premier League start in more than a decade, winning their opening eight matches to sit top with 24 points.
