South Africa's Sundowns, DR Congo's TP Mazembe reach Champions League last 8

DR Congo's TP Mazembe and South Africa's Sundowns secured passage to the quarter finals of the African Champions League after wins over Primero de Agosto of Angola (2-1) and USM Algeria (2-1) respectively on Saturday.

Five-time African champions TP Mazembe came back from behind to secure the top spot of Group A with 10 points after four games.

Mabululo gave the Angolans a surprise ninth-minute lead but Chico Ushindi and Jackson Muleka scored in quick succession on 60 and 69 minutes to seal a crucial victory.

Zamalek are second of the group with seven points while Zesco and Primero de Agosto are tied at the bottom with just two points.

In Group C, South African giants Sundowns beat USM Alger 2-1 at home to qualify for the knockout phase.

All the entertainment came in the first half as Thapelo Morena (36) and Sibusiso Vilakazi (45) scored for the hosts while Aymen Mahious scored the Algerian's consolation goal in the 45th minute.

The 2016 African Champions are top of the group with 10 points, five ahead of Wydad Casablanca who will face Petro Atletico (1 point) later on Saturday. USM Alger are third with two points.
