MENA, , Saturday 1 Feb 2020

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has praised growing economic and trade ties between Egypt and Germany.

The premier on Saturday met with Burkhard Balz, member of the executive board of Germany’s Deutsche Bundesbank, in the presence of Gamal Negm, deputy governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), and the German ambassador in Cairo.

Madbouly underlined existing cooperation between the CBE and Deutsche Bundesbank, citing that the German bank was one of the four main banks that contributed to the first and second reform programs of the Egyptian central bank from 2004 to 2012.

The premier added that Egypt is keen to promote cooperation with Germany in different fields, particularly technical education and vocational training.

Balz said Egypt is the first country in the region that he opted to visit after assuming his position in light of the German bank’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with Cairo.

He congratulated the Egyptian government and the CBE on the success of the distinguished reform program of the banking sector.
