Zamalek decided to terminate the contract of Moroccan striker Khalid Boutaib, the club's president Mortada Mansour said on Tuesday.

"Boutaib has been absent for long and we failed to reach him," Mansour told a news conference on Tuesday.

"He kept skipping the team's training so we decided to terminate his contract.''

The 32-year-old joined Zamalek in January 2019 from Turkish side Maltayspor after producing some fine displays with Morocco at the 2018 World Cup.

Boutaib, who has been out of action since last October due to a persistent knee injury, scored four goals in 16 appearances with the club in all competitions.

Reports said that the player is considering to lodge a complaint with FIFA against the club, after the latter failed to fulfill their financial obligations toward him.
