Egypt and Aston Villa's winger Mahmoud Hassan "Trezeguet" aspires to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with the U-23 national team next summer.

"I hope to participate in Tokyo Olympics," Trezeguet told Al-Nahar TV channel.

The 25-year-old winger can play with the U-23 national team in the Olympics as the football tournament regulations allow each team to include three over-age players in the squad.

The young Pharaohs have qualified for the Olympics after winning the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, held in Egypt.

Trezeguet, who joined the English side the Villa at the beginning of the current season, is delivering outstanding performances. Most recently he scored the winning goal for his side against Leicester City in the League Cup, helping the team to reach the final against Manchester City.

"Playing against Man City is very difficult and exhausting, you feel like you're facing 22 players in the field. Winning the title with Aston Villa is a big dream, because I'm coming from a prestigious club where I was raised clinching titles. I have won with Ahly nine titles," Trezeguet said.

"They asked me after Leicester City's game if scoring the winner is the best moment in my career, I said no, there were other impressive moments I've lived with Ahly, in addition to qualifying to the World Cup," the former Ahly forward added.

Villa are performing well in the League Cup after defeating Leicester in the semifinal who are one of the top three teams in the Premier League standings. Colurrently they stand at the 17th place with 25 points, just one place away from the relegation zone.
