Paying tribute to Egyptian animated films, organisers of Morocco's 19th Meknes International Animation Film Festival (MIAFF), which will take place between 20 and 25 March, chose Egypt as the country of honour.
The tribute will include screenings of Egyptian animated films and will honour figures from the country's cinema industry.
Among the featured films is The Knight and the Princess (2019), written and directed by Bashir El-Deek with voices provided by the well-known Egyptian actors Mohamed El-Dafrawy, Maged El-Kedwany, Lekaa El-Khamisy, among others.
El-Deek will also be honoured during the festival.
According to IMDb synopsis, The Knight and the Princess sheds light on a young man, Mohamed El-Kassim, "who is frustrated by the number of injustices. He decides to make a difference. He fights through his enemies and eventually gets to the root of all evil in the land of Sind -- the tyrant King Daher."
The Egyptian segment of the festival will also have its significant share in the large exhibition held at the festival showcasing clippings from old animated films.
The festival is organised by the Aicha Foundation in cooperation with the French Institute in Meknes. The festival showcases animated films from around the world.
