EgyptAir suspends flights to Sudan over coronavirus concerns

EgyptAir said on Friday it was suspending flight services to Sudan after the country halted travel with Egypt over fears of the coronavirus outbreak.




Air trips to the Sudanese capital Khartoum will be cancelled as of Friday and until further notice, the airline said in a statement.

Sudan announced on Thursday it had stopped visa issuances and flight services to eight countries, including Egypt, in a bid to stem the spread of the new virus.

The Sudanese government said it would also halt bus trips to Egypt.Egypt has confirmed 80 coronavirus cases, two of whom have died, an Egyptian woman and a German tourist.Of the total number, twenty people have since recovered, the health ministry said on Thursday.

The virus, which emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan late last year, has so far infected over 135,000 people and killed more than 4,900 globally.
