Egypt explore manufacturing coronavirus medical equipment

Sisi Increases allowance of medical staff and workers, follows-up the comprehensive plan against Coronavirus (COVID-19)


Amid Coronavius challenges, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has directed the cabinet to explore the possibilities of local manufacturing of medical supplies and equipments facing global lack of supply, presidency spokesman revealed Sunday following an urgent meeting.



The meeting, part of the 100-million-man country's comprehensive plan against Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, was attended by the Prime Minister and ministers of Defense and Military Production, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Finance and Health and Population in addition to Presidency Consultant in Health and Precaution Affairs and Head of Medical Services Department at the Armed Forces.



The President asserted that "the fight against the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19) is an essential global cause that demands cooperation and collective awareness to reach the highest rates of coordination and harmony between all of the state bodies and the people, to run through this crisis, "as the Presidency Spokesman stated.



The president has valued the efforts of the health sector workers, ordering a 75% increase of the allowance of medical profession with a cost of EGP 2.25B, in addition to the launch of a risk fund for the medical staff and an exceptional payment for some hospitals and health centers involved in fight the pandemic.



Health Minister, who confirmed that the rates of the virus spread is comparably law in Egypt, has presented different scenarios of work plans to fight the pandemic.



The meeting has also dealt with the cabinets efforts of repatriate Egyptian citizen stranded abroad and the precautionary measures of their arrivals in addition to the Higher Education Ministry's efforts in the comprehensive plan.



Egypt is experiencing a partial shut and curfew and a suspension of all public religious, educational, cultural, sportive and entertainment activities or gatherings.
