The event will be broadcast as a Facebook live event from Cairo’s City of the Dead
Hailing from Aswan, Mohamed Basheer is inspired by the Upper Egyptian heritage of Ja’ffary culture.
"Celebrate Ramadan with the lively beats of Basheer's Upper Egyptian folk music with a modern twist — streamed live from the Maq'ad of Sultan Qaitbey," says the introduction to an event scheduled to take place Friday 8 May, between 4pm and 5pm.
The event will be live-streamed from Cairo's City of the Dead, broadcast as aFacebook live event.
Mohamed Basheer's music is inspired by the Ja'ffary culture of Upper Egypt, "where Ja'ffary groups usually include a lead vocalist and musicians who create rhythm with percussion and hand clapping," the note to the event adds.
