Egypt’s Nasr City prosecution office is investigating the suicide of a coronavirus patient at Abbasiya pulmonology hospital, it said on Tuesday.

The patient threw himself off the balcony of his room on the fourth floor of the hospital, the prosecution said.

He died of a fractured skull and internal bleeding.

The patient went to the hospital after experiencing some coronavirus symptoms, and subsequently tested positive for the virus.

After his positive test, he was placed in an isolation room, from which he killed himself.

Egypt has so far recorded 12,764 coronavirus cases and 645 fatalities from the disease since it first arrived in February.
