The Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFF) has launched a film streaming platform which includes a large variety of international films (with Arabic and/or subtitles) and movies from the Arab world.

The films are released in three categories: Youth Films, Feature Films and Family Films. They include short animation films, short live-action films, Arabic short films and feature films.

Ten short films are available for viewing in the Youth Films category, including Zeinab (Bahrain), Sandarah (Kuwait), Scene of Geranium (USA), Mum's Hair (Norway), Green (The Netherlands), and Overrun (France).

The Feature Films category is represented by two entries from Iran, The Painting Tool and Ranna's Silence, and one film from Switzerland, Big and Little.

The Family Films section includes 19 short movies including award-winning animated films Sorej (Bahrain), You Look Scary (USA), Shirts to Heaven (Spain), Alike (Spain), Zombriella (Germany), and Belonging (Portugal).

The films will be available until the end of July.

The Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth was launched in 2013.

The festival's eighth edition is scheduled to take place between 11 and 16 October 2020, yet the organisers have not released any further details about the upcoming edition.

According to the festival’s website, the event “is dedicated to enhancing the media literacy of children and youth, fostering children’s and young people’s creativity and showcasing the very best in filmmaking for, by and about children and young people.”
