Pep Guardiola says his star-studded team can't overtake Real Madrid to win La Liga this year

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has made it loud and clear that his team won’t win the 2011-2012 Spanish La Liga title despite winning their third consecutive away match.

"Forget it, we won’t win the league this year," Guardiola said at press conference after his side's 2-0 victory over Sevilla on Saturday.

Xavi Hernandez scored a free-kick that put Barca ahead of Sevilla after 18 minutes and Messi added another to continue his blistering goal scoring form.

“Sevilla have a fantastic team. We won because we did things well. We give this victory a lot of value. The only sour aspect of the match was that we didn’t convert all the chances we created. Palop had a fantastic game, he saved four one-on-ones,” Guardiola added.

Guardiola refused to focus on the coming Champions League quarterfinals’ showdown against Serie A Leaders AC Milan.

“First, we have to play against Granada and Mallorca, and we’ll go out to win those matches.”

Barcelona are currently second in the La Liga table with 63 points, seven behind leader and arch-rival Real Madrid who have a game in hand.
