The ReelHeART International Film and Screenplay Festival will be held online between 6 and 11 July 2020

A short film titled Family Routine by emerging Egyptian director Ahmed Hamed will screen during the 16th ReelHeART International Film and Screenplay Festival, which will take place online between 6 and 11 July 2020.

Written and directed by Hamed, the short feature film is classified under "student film" and talks about "an unemployed Egyptian youth who suffers from fear of punishment. We see articulated moments in his life that were the basis of forming the features of his personality," the film's brief explains.

The film stars Mohamed Yehia, Marwa Youssry, Omnia Ahmed, Hassan Ammar, Nasser El-Bshoty and Mariam Said.

The film won Best Cinematography of a Student Film award at the Los Angeles film festival.

Launched in 2004, the ReelHeART International Film and Screenplay Festival "is dedicated to supporting the need for exposure for all independent filmmakers around the world. We put emerging and student artists alongside established and master filmmakers in an effort that all filmmakers can be recognised for their art, rather than their credits," the festival writes on its website.

The festival usually takes place in the cinema halls of Toronto, Canada; however, this year's edition has been moved online.
